Friday Links

Happy Friday people! What are your plans for the weekend? We are headed downtown Pensy tonight, and then tomorrow John has a sim so I am probably going to catch up on some reading and a little work. It's a chill weekend--we are prob going to make plans on the fly, which I love every once in a while.

Here are some links from around the webs this week:

  • Looking for a good read? I am excited to check out some of the books on this list from HelloGiggles
  • Might have to make this insane looking crumble sometime soon...mmm apple blackberry..
  • LOVE these napkins to promote good dinner conversation.
  • I love this article from Darling about being a "perfectly imperfect" hostess--it both challenged me and let me off the hook.
  • Have you heard about Hatch my House? My friend Lindsey told me about it last night and I think it is the coolest idea! It is a wedding registry that allows your guests to contribute to a fund that goes towards a down payment on your first house by buying bits of a cute little house like the chimney, back porch, or refrigerator! Such a great idea!
  • I am sorry, but this video is hilarious. Actually, I am not sorry. This is hilarious. Love Dax.

Have a great weekend everyone!

xoxo,

Emily

Happy Friday Everyone! It is a lovely day here--the suns out, birds are singing, and our lemon tree is blooming and smells absolutely incredible. We are ready for the weekend! How about you?! I hope everyone gets rest this weekend and is able to spend some time outside. Creation is waking up again! Hurrah!

Here are some cool things I saw around the interwebs this week:

  • We need some Easter decor so I am going to try to make some of these lovely DIY decoupage eggs this weekend!
  • This video is old but I can never get enough Bey in my life.
  • This sweet scottish kitty used to sit on my stoop every morning when I was at St. Andrews, and now he has his own statue! #celebcats
  • This video has been flying around the web this week but in case you havn't seen it...it is probably one of the funniest April Fool's jokes I have ever seen.
  • To all my fellow English majors: this buzzfeed article cracked me up.
  • This looks yummy...may have to try it this weekend.

Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a great start to their weekend! My best friend and MOH is here this weekend, so we are going to hit up some great Pensacola places with her.  The weather is finally looking nice so I am pumped to log some tanning/reading time, as well. What is everyone else up to?!

  • I am making this one-pot dish tonight. It looks so yummy, and easy!
  • I realize I am a few days late on this, but I loved reading this article about the real St. Patrick and what an incredible man and missionary he was.
  • Got a sore throat? This remedy looks like the varsity version of my usual throatcoat tea and honey...
  • To all my fellow Bostonians (whether presently or at heart)-- here is a daily dose of food porn specially curated for us
  • Growing up my mom was always having her best friends, and coincidentally my best friends moms, over for a cup of tea and some girl talk in the afternoons. I always cherished this time to sit in on wise older women sharing life together, not mention it is a simple and low key way of entertaining. In an age of brunching and lunching, this post sums up casual adult hang time perfectly.  Theres nothing better than sharing your home, or more accurately couch or kitchen table with your best friends.

Julia Child + Weekend Links

There is certainly nothing difficult about the basics. It is a question of getting started, and of learning how to pick the best and freshest ingredients, and of knowing, reading, seeing, or being shown how to hold a knife, chop the onion, peel the asparagus, make the butter and flour roux, and above all taking it seriously.
— Julia Child

Happy Friday everyone! I was reading the intro to The Art of French Cooking earlier this week, and I just loved that quote! So true for beginner cooks, or cooks who just don't know how great they are! Julia Child's classic makes such a great gift! If you don't already own it than click the picture to grab it for yourself or a loved one.

What are you up to this weekend? Two of our favorite men are visiting us, my brother Blair and our great friend Danny, so we have some fun stuff planned to do with them including a little beach time, downtown Pensy, and maybe checking out the Naval Aviation Museum on base.

Here are some lovely links from around the web this week:

  • My friend Nate's band, Doctors and Lawyers, was featured on the latest mixtape from Mercedes Benz with their single Running Around You. I am diggin the surf pop vibes. Check it out for some easy listening.
  • This little girl is too cute.
  • I absolutely cannot wait till Oh Joy for Target releases on Sunday! I am totally going to stock up on fun party supplies. Party hats? Cute banners? Water goblets? Done.
  • BBC thinks that the average person has only read 6 books off of this list. Take the quiz to find out how many you have read! I've read 26, but I think I want to challenge myself to finish the list asap.
  • I am about to make this soup for lunch. Looks so yummy!
  • My brother and I got our history nerd on last night and started the John Adams HBO miniseries. I know we are behind the curve on this one, but it is so good. Watch it on HBO Go, or buy it on Amazon here
  • Did you know there was a desert in England? I didn't!
  • J. Crew has great swimsuits right now, just in time for spring break! I am eyeing this bikini and this rockin' one piece

Have the best weekend Everyone, and thanks for stopping by!
